What is massage therapy?
Massage therapy is the manipulation of the soft tissues of the body (muscles, connective tissue, tendons, and ligaments) using various techniques to help alleviate stress in different areas of the body. Massage therapy involves treating the body with pressure, tension, and motion done by the therapist. This treatment has therapeutic effects on the body, helping to relieve muscle tension as well as promoting relaxation and well-being.
Massage therapy has undeniable results for the relief of a variety of discomfort stemming from stress, muscle overuse, and many chronic pain syndromes. Treatments can provide quicker recovery from accident-related pain conditions, such as whiplash, as well as helping to restore full range of motion to joints after an injury or surgery.
At HYM Fam, our massage therapists incorporate various techniques to tailor to our clients’ needs. All our therapists are members of the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO). Most extended health insurance plans cover massage therapy treatments when provided by a Registered Massage Therapist. We do not offer online billing, but an invoice will be given at the end of each treatment. You can submit this invoice to your insurance company for reimbursement. If you arrive early, our staff will show you to the lounge area where you can relax before your treatment. Depending on your presenting condition, you may require a treatment plan to be put in place.
